'Am I Racist' Hits Box Office Hard While Hollywood Turns Up Nose

A 99% score can earn you a fascinating "ignore" from Hollywood's biggest reviewers, but we know why this curious lack of attention is happening. And we aren't deterred.

Hollywood profits are under attack, and conservative and faith-based film stand to make gains as the industry keeps losing screens.

Matt Walsh's "Am I Racist?" is now outgrossing many Hollywood films with big stars, such as Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus, Dave Bautista's The Killer's Game, and Blake Lively's It Ends with Us. It made top 4, with $4.5 million coming in only this weekend, already making back it's money.

But just look at this...

Funny, yes. But also sad.

Tim Pool has called what we are seeing a... media blackout. But why would Hollywood turn up their noses at a 99% rotten tomatoes score by the audience? I wonder why.

He's also calling it a masterpiece... so take it worth a grain of salt. But you cannot ignore the numbers. Ratings and ticket grosses, all numbers and stats you can safely believe in.

It's making a large amount of money per screen, which is a popular stat that tells us they can safely expand the film into even more theaters. It's too early to see what kind of legs this film has, but we are seeing some great velocity to this film.

Am I Racist is the red line, which just began it's box office run.

What we are seeing in the analysis is an exceptional performance in comparison to Reagan, which is another conservative film we can safely compare it to. Per theater, Am I Racist does almost three times better with only $1047 in Reagan theaters vs $2995 PER THEATER for Am I Racist.

Reagan has done a bit better in "totals" but when you notice that it opened in almost twice the amount of screens (Reagan's 2770 screens to Am I Racist's 1517), it makes Am I Racist look far better. On opening weekend, Reagan made $7.6 mil when Am I Racist made $4.5 million. This means that Reagan should have opened with almost twice the box office of Am I Racist (it should have made $8.2 mil), but this did not happen. This means that Am I Racist potentially could make as much as Reagan ($23 mil) in 3-weeks-time, and more.

This is Angel Studios-level. Incredible.

However, this doesn't mean that reviewers will give this film much attention, though, which it really needs to get more people to notice it, and come to theaters to see it. But there are a few people. Here we have Jeremy Jahns, Film Threat, and Verbal Riot, among a few others.

Even Joe Rogan interviews Matt. See below.

But back to the reviewers... Matt Walsh thanks reviewer Jeremy Jahns here in his tweet, because he has noted that so few Hollywood reviewers have actually reviewed the film. We have to really help those who help us out, too. Especially if we are to be a real community.

Here is Jahn's review here.

Here is Verbal Riot's review, as well.

And, of course, Film Threat.

As of today, The Critical Drinker.

Back to the box office assessment...

Comparisons to the faith-based films from this weekend (which are currently also in the top ten box office right now) can be done to some small degree, since many faith-based films are also made by conservatives or "counter-culture to Hollywood" filmmakers. These other films currently playing are The Forge & God's Not Dead: In God We Trust.

Take a look! These four films have attacked the top ten box office, meaning that counter-culture-to-Hollywood films are now 4 of the current top ten in theaters. Amazing.

God's Not Dead 5 doesn't compare, but The Forge has done quite well, though not as good as the Kendricks' past iterations. It will likely end up with less money at 4 weeks when compared to Reagan or Am I Racist, even though their velocity is still pretty good.

I have to say that, as predicted here before, theaters are vulnerable now. This is a major development in my view, and Matt's film could end up an incredible success that conservative media may never forget.

However, if conservatives fail to record and celebrate our successes, who will know? And how will we rally the troops? Many of us know that an army cannot survive and thrive and win without motivators like this to continue in difficult times. This is what we're here for, to provide this motivator, and hopefully many more will agree... and will join us.

See the film in theaters and find showings at amiracist.com.
