From Bonhoeffer to David to new Sam Worthington and Alejandro Monteverde productions, these films and tv shows display a vista of possibilities for family-friendly and faith-based culture-lovers. Many Americans, it is true, are still lost in the maze-like pathways of Hollywood's dark decadence, but creators and distributors like Angel are beginning to fulfill Christian families & filmmaker's dreams, slowly but surely.
It is happening...
Recently, Angel attended the American Film Market (Las Vegas) and made their substantial presence known as a buyer of good film & tv. I used to go to this very event to get meetings with distributors and producers, but this was in Santa Monica, and it was a very different Hollywood then. Luckily, we know that before this event in Las Vegas, Angel Studio's intentions have been broadcasted, as a tactical counterweight to Hollywood.
In this case, it means they intend to make a serious dent in the theatrical market, as well as continue their push into new and better streaming acquisitions.
So, we will catalogue many of their recent announcements here... their theatrical offerings & streaming.
Angel gave their Press Release here, as we will sum up below.
While this is exciting and really displays the Hollywood-level quality and potentiality that these projects represent, it is often still only representing potential. The film Sight, as well as Cabrini and Sweetwater, shows us that many of these products carry within them the same thread of string cheese as other faith-based works. After all, it will be a difficult work to coax Christian filmmakers that they can now begin to express their own unique aesthetic, if even to offend their fellow pew-sitters with the new ideas that can bring change to the world.
We must recognize, however, that this potential is incredibly great. It is great enough that it may, given time, spell the end of the reign of the faith-based genre as we know it.
Firstly, we will lay out the theatrical announcements, including the new & existing slate that already we know exists. Then secondly, the new streaming announcements including a property we have spoken of before on Media Moses.

It's such an enormous amount of content that we will certainly be drilling down into as many of these projects as we can, in the near future. We will try to do this in various forms, including interviews, if we get a chance.
My excitement for this is growing and is not limited to the theatrical releases. The streaming content looks similarly exciting, even though not all of it is new. And what a great time to see in the entertainment industry, as Hollywood is finally getting some strong competition!
