Assistant Director on 'The Chosen' Gets To Produce Comedy Pilot 'The Promised Land'

Would you like to see The Office wandering around for 40 years in the desert? I mean, did the GPS get broken? The comedy writes itself, folks!

Mitch Hudson, the 2nd 2nd AD from the Chosen had a great idea, and it became something! Something funny!

" ...The Office but they're the Israelites in the Exodus!"

So, he got investors, and now we have the pilot of this new show and the trailer premiering. They also released numerous hilarious clips on Instagram & YouTube in preparation. And we finally get to meet Mitch on a livestream to help promote the show and get to know everybody!

So here is the livestream!

He informs us on the schedule. How many episodes, and seasons, and then... a movie! That's right! In fact it is less about the seasons the way so many shows are. It's more about the episodes.

He describes it as... 40 episodes and a feature!

I hope you picked up on that, but... its like 40 years in the wilderness, right? 40 episodes, and then they get to have their movie!

No word on if they are going to do any fundraising in the future, because he says they have investors for this SAG show currently. But this doesn't preclude that no future monies will be needed to reach these goals. He did say that they will be trying to do 40 episodes and I think the assumption is six seasons (or six years), at 30 minutes an episode. So if that's true then there will be about six more seasons until they reach their goal to make the film. Who knows if the film will be treated as one long last episode, or if it is like 4 or 5 episodes wrapped up into one film.

Or maybe their film will be something else entirely, such as something inspired by the show, but not exactly like the show. These are things we don't know yet. Speaking of which, we also don't know when episode 2 will come out. He says they need to do more filming to complete the next 5 episodes of the season (since the pilot is acting as the first episode) but we're not sure if episode 2 has been filmed yet.

He also said that the show will follow their entire time in the desert, so it will likely cover many lessons they had to go through, just like how this first pilot covered the lesson of Moses needing to trust his leaders to help him, and to delegate authority. By the time they are done, they will be preparing to claim their new nation.

...And all along the way, we get some great comedy.

So, here it is... the entire Pilot episode!
