Wingfeather Saga Season 3 Teaser Brings Us Closer to Book 3

A teaser doesn't always inspire news. Many times they aren't even that good, not to mention them not necessarily being noteworthy, but this one really got to me. I shouldn't just say "me" however, when I'm really talking about me and my kids. My daughter, in particular, is very excited about the Wingfeather Saga books, and it has been my way in to introduce CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien's work to her.

She's been asking about Season 3 for awhile. So, I couldn't help noticing that I'm happy to be raising a "super fan," indeed.

This means, when I showed her Wingfeather's Teaser for Season 3 in between homeschool lessons, a big smile spread across her happy jowels. She excitedly explained that they are still in book 2, called "North! Or Be Eaten!" and that this was such a good book.

Of course, "they are all good" she explained, but she is glad that they are going to be finishing it, since they didn't finish it in Season 2. Not much to complain about there. Her only complaint is that she wishes it didn't take so long to release each season. Of course kids don't always realize how expensive these things are, and how important quality control is on animation, but as a growing artist herself, she is beginning to understand. The fact is, the general audience doesn't always even understand this, either.

Storytelling & animation takes time and money, that is, if we want it to be "good." That is no understatement, because what we typically get in faith-based media is lots of enthusiasm and heartwarming notions, but not a lot of culture-building craftsmanship. Lack of funds. And this means it's hardly ever going to make a peep in reviews, or discussions online, because nobody is all that impressed, truth-be-told.

This is not the case for The Wingfeather Saga. They are doing their due-diligence to make sure it is top-notch.

It, like Angel's "other" great animated kids show, "Tuttle Twins," really has made an enormous difference in the culture. It has led to fun and high-quality (albeit at times a tad dark) storytelling accessible to that 10-13 year old kid who is really discovering the "more exciting" storytelling in a big way. It's a formative time, in which kids can enjoy Tolkien & Lewis as well. And Angel Studios has pulled through to get kids something really special here.

Like this teaser, it really whets the appetite for this greatly admired show and anticipated season, coming in *Fall 2025.

In their recent livestream they also say they will introduce new animatics every month (for the Guild) until the release of season 3 this fall. This came out last night on the Angel site, and keep in mind that the animatics may contains spoilers for the upcoming season!
